*Exploring Daylighting in Historic Architecture – Welcome to Italy!
After the success of previous editions in Copenhagen, Gdańsk, and Lund, NLITED Summer School 2025 arrives in the heart of Northeast Italy, in Trentino, a region where architectural heritage and innovation seamlessly come together marging with a unique nature. This year, we turn our focus to daylighting strategies for the renovation of historic buildings, tackling the challenge of preserving cultural identity while enhancing energy efficiency and visual comfort.
An Edition Led by Università della Tuscia (UNITUS)
This edition is managed by Università della Tuscia (UNITUS) and will take place at Centro Studi Alpino (CSALP), the university’s research center in Pieve Tesino, a small yet historically rich town nestled in the Trentino mountains. The University of Trento and the Municipality of Trento will actively collaborate, ensuring that the outcomes of this Summer School have real-world applications and impact.
Our network keeps growing, but our long-standing partners remain a crucial part of NLITED: Lund University and Gdańsk University of Technology continue to support our mission, along with DTU – Technical University of Denmark, which joins this edition as a key collaborator.
But the experience extends beyond Trento: our one-week immersive program will take place in the beautiful setting of Pieve Tesino, providing participants with an unparalleled environment for study, design, and collaboration.

FAQ
1. What level of difficulty can we expect and what programmes will we use? In terms of design, how much one could design during a university course on daylighting design. Lectures will vary on different experts in daylighting knowledge including design, simulation, biology and many other topics. There will also be a lot of focus on creating a network and group of students in the EU that can take this knowledge forward. Project work will be carried out in groups. The intensity of the work will be proportional to the fun 😉
2. Will there be a public presentation at the end of the week? As in previous editions, the groups’ work will be presented in Lund in a final public presentation. More details will be provided later.
3. Do I have to prove that I am a university student for the fee reduction? Yes, the fee reduction is only if you give a proof of payment of tuition fees for the current year.
4. All the meal are included in the Summer School fees? The participation fee for the summer school includes catering during the day (coffee breaks and lunch) but not dinner. However, a welcome drink on 17 August and a closing dinner on 23 August are planned.
5. As a student, can I request a single room? We do not recommend this, but if requested, the applicant must pay the price difference to have a single room for all the days of the stay.
